Getting Started

Create a positive experience

  • This is often the start of a child’s relationship with physio and creates the foundation for their ongoing physio journey.
  • Keep communication positive and light.
  • Try not to make physio a battle ground.

Minimise stress

Babies and children pick up on adult’s stress levels so try to stay calm even if the child gets upset.

Consider the physio environment

Try to focus your attention on the child and minimise noise/distraction.

Timings and routine

Children thrive when there is predictability, consistency and routine. Try to follow the same routine when you are doing physio with a young child.
